Today's post is another throwback, ya girl just got back from Mexico and was thoroughly enjoying life. But let me tell you, I had some funny azz stories from Puerto Vallarta. Def didn't seem funny at the time... but while I'm mustering up the right words for that story, please enjoy this post from last year on my old blog. It's still relevant to my life LOL.

An obvious factor into my daily humor involves self-deprecation. Whether that makes me funnier or not to you, it doesn’t matter to me… You’re still reading my ridiculous blog LMAO. The embarrassing things that I do crack me up and for some reason make things so much funnier. Maybe also more relatable? Because everyone can be a little embarrassing sometimes…

Have you ever heard of Turo? This isn’t an advertisement at all, but whenever I go back to Hawaii to visit family and for vacation, I always use Turo. It’s basically like airbnb but for cars. Cheaper than any enterprise or hertz rental car by far and the drop off and pick up is relatively easy especially when you’re working with a 5-star host that is responsive and accommodating. So my previous trip home, my mom decides to rent from turo for a night being that we only have two smaller cars and we wanted to go to a drive thru haunted house where you pay per car. Being that my mom isn’t that tech savvy, I attempt arranging this van myself. My mom was very specific in wanting a mini van. So that left us with 2 choices, the kia sedona and the toyota sienna. Originally, we had chosen to go with the toyota sienna being that it was a familiar car, but realized that the kia sedona was a little cheaper, so all in all the sedona was the winner. I text the 5 star host about pickup location and luckily its only a 5 minute drive away. My mom and I hop into my car and shortly thereafter pull into the parking lot. Busy busy busy. The starbucks drive through line is bumping and there are cars upon cars circling to find open spots. I look back at the host message, “right across from starbucks”. I tell my mom, okay keep an eye out for the white van right across from starbucks… spotted. We drive up right behind it.

“Do you want me to park and help you find the key? It says they left it right under the mat behind the drivers seat, it should be open.”

“No, I got it. Does the van have a turo sign on it or anything?”

“Nah, it’s someones actual car that they own. My last few haven’t had any.”

“Okay, just stay right there and let me make sure it’s the right one”

My mom hops out of the car and I veer towards the back of the van so that I am clear of all traffic happening in the parking lot. She opens the back door and confusingly looks back at me and yells out

“Ceej, there’s a baby seat back here… and trash on the ground”

I see her face immediately turn red and her head whips around to the back of the drivers’ seat as she apologizes and moves closer towards the drivers’ side window.

“Oh my gosh I’m so so sorry, this is my first time using turo and I thought this was the car we were renting and I hope you have a great day” she babbles and then SPRINTS towards my car that I had immediately taken out of park and was slowly driving elsewhere.

She gets to the car and starts punching the side of my arm, not intending to hurt me but hating me for sending her to that toyota sienna that wasn’t ours to rent.

“I can’t believe it [crying of laughter] I just opened this lady’s car door and was looking under her mat and saw the car seat and trash on the ground and shouted it out like she wasn’t even in there. And I’m pretty sure she goes to our church.”

We definitely got confused on arrival being that we were between the two different vans to begin with. So instead of looking for the sedona, we had approached the sienna. with the owner. sitting inside. while my mom rummaged through her car. and lifted her mat. and announced to the parking lot that there was trash inside….

Main takeaway: Stay embarrassing friends, it gives you more stories to tell and more laughs to share. Happy first story of 2022. It’s gonna be a good year.

PS. If you have read this far, I'm LOLing bc I probably wrote like 2 or 3 more posts and that last line makes it seem like I wrote tons. Hopefully this year is better, fingers crossed.
